Our Projects

Ka whaingia ka tupu, ka puawai

That which is nurtured blossoms and grows

Cafe 123

Once a month, Café 123 opens its doors to offer our community and visitors the best of café quality food. We also roast boutique blends of fair trade organic coffee beans so our customers can enjoy an excellent coffee brew without having to travel all the way to town.

Our menu of deliciously tasty cakes, slices and blackboard specials may be small but they are authentically homemade. All our offerings are whipped up in our on-site kitchen.

Where possible we utilise freshly picked, home-grown fruits and vegetables from local gardens and orchards. Even the flowers that adorn the tables are carefully selected and arranged on your table just prior to opening.

Awhi Tu Collective Hauora

The Awhi Tu Collective Well-being and Education Center seeks to be a transformational experience enhancing the life and wellness of individuals and our community.

When it comes to health and well-being we know that one size does not fit all, so Awhi Tu Collective Hauora collaborates with a number of practitioners and local expertise to offer our community a range of choices to focus on the wholeness of their health.

He wakaputanga Wānanga

What is the history of New Zealand? Have you ever heard it taught from the perspective of Tangata Whenua?

We regularly hold a series of wānanga that introduces the history of this whenua, or land, that we live on from the perspective of the Maori people.

Whether you call our country Aotearoa, Nu Tireni or New Zealand, the information is somewhat eye opening.

For an overview of our history from the year 1807, follow the link below.

Community Wānanga
and Workshops

Step into a world of limitless possibilities, where the journey is as exhilarating as the destination, and where every moment is an opportunity to make your mark on the canvas of existence. The only limit is the extent of your participation.

Art and Craft

One of our member artists offered a workshop on Cyanotype photography. It is a camera-less technique that produces stunning blue and white prints. Such a fun activity with fabulous results.

Visit our Wānanga – Workshops page for upcoming workshops.

Homesteading

Homesteading often conjures up visions of lush, vegetable laden gardens and food stores chock full with jars of homemade jams and pickles, plus the odd hen roaming the garden.

Visit our Wānanga and Workshops page for upcoming wānanga.

Firewood Collection

Cutting and collecting of firewood for distribution to members of the community in need, plus learning to build a Holz Housen, was hard work but also a great team bonding effort.
