Wānanga – Workshops

Ko te pae tawhiti whāia kia tata,
Ko te pae tata whakamaua kia tīna

Seek after your vision on the horizon and cherish the goals you attain.

Community Wānanga

Organising programs and events in the form of wānanga (teaching and learning sessions) is one way that we encourage our community to connect with each other.

We find it is also a great way to have a little fun, meet somebody new, and share moments doing something outside of the usual day to day routine.

To date we have learned how to build Holz Hausen, how to make cheese, create artful pieces using nature and are building our repertoire of waiata.

Our most important wānanga are those learning about our founding documents.

Homesteading Wānanga

Homesteading often conjures up visions of lush, vegetable laden gardens and food stores chock full with jars of homemade jams and pickles, plus the odd hen roaming the garden as you collect eggs in that cute little wicker basket you bought just for that purpose.

Sometimes, life can be like that. However, many times, especially for those new to the homesteader lifestyle, the reality can bring you back to earth with a bump.

Awhi Tu Collective runs homesteading wānanga to help you to limit those bumps and spend more time enjoying the fist pumping exhilaration of self-sufficient living success.

What is on the horizon?

123 is currently our home base which we hope you will find a welcoming, safe space where you can walk in to talk, meet, share stories and laugh, sit and read a book or host an event of your own.

Scroll down to see what events, activities, meetings or wānanga we have coming up on the horizon.

This workshop is designed as a ‘taster’ however Tahi hopes there will be some ‘takeaways you can put into practice straight away. Limited spaces available. Tea, coffee and art materials provided.
